The NHS National Tariff – Payment by Results

Executive Summary

The National Tariff (also known as Payment by Results, PbR) is the system in England through which commissioners (almost invariably Clinical Commissioning Groups, CCGs) reimburse providers of relevant healthcare services (predominantly hospital trusts, as the National Tariff does not cover primary care) based on the number of patients they treat and the medical conditions involved.

The National Tariff is a nationally set database which lists the reimbursement prices providers will recoup for their services under PbR.
