Executive Summary

The Reimbursement Commission evaluates applications for reimbursement, with input from the Medical and Economic Evaluation Commission (MEEC) and the Turkish Drug and Medical Device Institution (TITCK). Applications can be made to either commission, 4 times a year with the assessment lasting 3-6 months.

Successful applications are added to the positive medicines list which is reimbursed by the Social Security Institute (SGK) who provide universal health insurance to people in Turkey. For a medicinal product to be on the list it must not exceed the cost-effectiveness limit and must demonstrate a significant benefit to the patient population.
