Executive Summary

All medicines undergo a rapid review, determining either that they should be reimbursed or not, or whether a full HTA is required. This is complemented by a horizon scanning process, allowing regulators to plan budgets accordingly for new and upcoming treatments, 12 to 18 months in advance.

An appraisal including a full HTA is expected to take around 10 to 24 months and has 3 possible HTA outcomes:

  • Recommended
  • Not recommended at the submitted price
  • Not recommended
