Chancellor to conduct spending review on 25 November

The treasury has announced that a one-year spending review will take place on 25 November in order to prioritise the government’s response to COVID-19.

The spending review will set the resource and capital budgets, as well as the Devolved Administration’s block grants, for 2021-22. Rather than setting out plans for the remainder of this Parliament, the government has decided to concentrate on its response to the COVID-19 pandemic and on supporting jobs.

It has been announced that multi-year NHS settlements will be fully funded, as will priority infrastructure projects such as hospital building.
