To protect the health of stakeholders, and to ensure continuity of service, the Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC) and the All-Wales Medicines Strategy Group (AWMSG) have called off a number of meetings.
In an email to panel members and stakeholders, SMC cancelled the following meetings:
- NDC Tuesday 31 March
- SMC Tuesday 7 April
- PACE Thursday 9 April
- PACE Tuesday 14 April
- NDC Tuesday 28 April
- SMC Tuesday 5 May
- PACE Tuesday 12 May
- NDC Tuesday 26 May
“In line with the measures announced by the First Minister on 16 March as part of the four-nations response to COVID-19 and in order to prioritise capacity in the health service, Healthcare Improvement Scotland and the Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC) have suspended all meetings with immediate effect. This is regrettable but unavoidable.
“SMC’s work is dependent on all of you, as dedicated members/SMC clinical experts to fulfil our Committee functions. Taking this step will release capacity to support work aligned with COVID-19 resilience.
This action is supported by Scottish Government.”
“As the situation regarding COVID-19 continues to develop, a decision has been made to suspend normal business of the All Wales Medicines Strategy Group (AWMSG) and its sub-groups, the New Medicines Group (NMG) and All Wales Prescribing Advisory Group (AWPAG), until the end of May so that frontline staff can focus on the care of patients. The situation will then be reviewed.”
