Executive Summary

Canada has a decentralised healthcare system, but all provinces and territories except Quebec, follow the national body CADTH. This page provides an overview of the reimbursement processes in Canada, outlining the two different drug assessments, CDR for non-oncology products, and pCODR for cancer products, as well as outlining the reimbursement procedure in Quebec, following INESSS.

While the CDEC make reimbursement recommendations, each Federal, Provincial & Territorial government drug plan make their own final reimbursement decision. As such, reimbursement timelines vary from 12-18 months, with a 6-month national procedure, and varying timeframes of 6-12 months for individual provinces.
