Council Ministers in the Spanish Government have approved a new structure for the Ministry of Health. The new structure was sanctioned through a royal decree which modifies the existing Royal Decree 595/2018 that establishes the basic organisational structure of the ministerial departments.
Key modifications include:
- the creation of a general Directorate of Consumption aimed at guaranteeing a high level of protection and promotion of consumer and user rights,
- a mandate to create the Observatory of Women’s Health, as an academic body, aimed at improving knowledge of the causes and determinants of women’s health,
- the Advisory Board extends its competency to the field of social services, in addition to Health.
