AESEG Calls for Generics Pricing Review in Spain

The Spanish Generic Medicines Association (AESEG) has called for a series of “development proposals for the sector of generic medicines in Spain.

AESEG has asked the Minister of Health, Dolors Montserrat, to recover (by regulation) “the price difference between the generic drug and the brand.” As they explain from this association, “at this moment, Spain is the only country in the European environment where there is no price difference between the generic drug and the off-patent brand.”

In addition, they have demanded that the prescription be strengthened by active principle , as marked by the law as well as “suspension of autonomous regulations different from those established by the Government and central Administration.
