Significant Savings Could Be Made if Patients Adhered to the Treatment

In Spain it has been discovered that only approximately 50% of chronic patients correctly follow treatment prescribed by their doctors, which is technically defined as a lack of adherence in health. Failure to adhere to the treatment prescribed by the medical professional is associated with a systematic reduction in quality and life expectancy.

As part of the ‘Plan de Adherencia al Tratamiento’, Farmaindustria has proposed increasing the level of adherence by 10% which would result in €75M in savings.
