Half of Chronic Patients in Spain not Adequately Adhering with Drug Treatment

A survey commissioned by Farmaindustria analysing patient treatment adherence found that only 49.9% of chronic patients in Spain adhered with prescribed medical treatment. This is in line with the World Health Organisation (WHO) Adherence to Long-Term Therapies Report in 2003.

The results reveal some of the challenges faced by the health service to bring adequate healthcare to the population, in that ensuring patients adhere to the full medical treatment.
