Canadian generics price reductions

A new agreement has seen the prices of nearly 70 commonly prescribed generic drugs discounted by up to 90% of their brand name equivalents. The price discounts were brought in on April 1, in the annual pricing review, in a new inniative with the pan-Canadian Pricing Alliance (pCPA). Over five years, the initiative is expected to generate savings of up to $3 billion for public drug plans.

The list of drugs can be found on the pCPA page here. The drugs are collectively used by millions of Canadians to treat conditions such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol and depression.
