Federal Audit Court: ANVISA not efficient enough

Brazil’s Federal Audit Court has enacted measures to increase ANVISA’s efficiency in its operations, giving it 180 days to implement the new requirements.

Mondaq reports that the Federal Audit Court (TCU) identified The Agência Nacional de Vigilância Sanitária (ANVISA) as contributing to bureaucratic hurdles hindering progress in the health sector, and has required that it improve its processes.

Much of the instruction to ANVISA is around transparency – the Agency is required to publish average times taken to product registration, for example. It is also required to put in place a number of efficiency-focussed internal changes around process, to ensure its work is completed in a timely manner.
