New All-Party Parliamentary Group on Access to Medicine and Medical Devices to have first meeting

A new All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on access to medicines and medical devices is to have its first annual general meeting tomorrow, at which it will discuss its aims, objectives, and future programmes. The objective of the group is to develop recommendations for the Government on improving access for patients and securing the UKs position as a global research hub for life sciences. The APPG will look at a number of issues relating to patient access to treatments, which will likely include:

  • The role of regulators
  • Medical Research and its funding challenges
  • Supply chain and export/import challenges
  • The pricing of specials/generics/other drugs

The APPG has been founded by its new chair, Anne Marie Morris MP (Conservative), and its other officers are:

  • Philippa Whitford MP (SNP)
  • Henry Smith MP (Conservative)
