Reports of non-approved medicines being sold in Armenia

According to the country’s healthcare ministry, Armenian authorities have identified the drugs Avelox and Puroxan being sold in the country, apparently without approval.

Avelox (moxifloxacin – manufactured by Bayer) is licensed and available in Armenia, but the identified supplies reportedly do not match the production batches approved in Armenia, and may have been intended for the Turkish market instead. Puroxan (doxofylline – manufactured by Eurodrug), on the other hand, used to be sold in Armenia but Eurodrug’s licence had expired and the company no longer imports it. Armenian authorities suspect these products may have come from across the Azerbaijani border.
